First Newsletter (2006-2007)

          During the last visit of the Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to Washington, DC, and subsequently in the presence of the Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in Delhi, a landmark Indo-US MoU was signed to bring faculty of some of the eminent Universities of the United States to Universities and Colleges in India for teaching both short-term and semester-long courses on the Edusat Network from a state of the art E-Learning Studio hosted at Amrita University’s beautiful hillside campus.

 
The last one year of the above Indo-US Initiative has been very fruitful: We had 4 full-fledged courses, 5 short-term courses, 7 research projects, and numerous distinguished lectures
 

COURSES:

RESEARCH PROGRAMMES:

  •  University of California-India: India’s premier science and technology organizations, including the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC), TIFAC, and Indo-US S&T Forum, and Amrita University, IIT Kanpur, Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, and SETS, together signed a 5-year agreement with the ten campus University of California System to carry out research in globally challenging and impactful areas. Projects considered under this initiative in 2006: JNCASR's Material Sciences Project, IIT Kanpur's Fuel Cell Project, SETS' Cyber security, Amrita University's Nano-Solar Project.
